I like it when interiors can refer to the history of a given place. This is the case with the interior of an apartment in Gdańsk, Poland, which was built on the site of a former bus and tram depot.
The entire residential building draws inspiration from the historical place where it was built. The materials and decorative elements used clearly define where the building is located.
This was a huge inspiration for me when designing the interior of this apartment. The materials and colors used, as well as the decorative elements, refer to the interior of the building. Old photographs on the walls show historical means of transport.
The interiors were designed in a modern loft style. The apartment is small but well planned. The living room is divided into a kitchenette, dining room and lounge area.
The small kitchenette is very functional despite its size. Its form and materials used match the interior. The kitchen does not overwhelm, but is a perfect background in the interior.
Some elements, such as plate radiators or track lighting, are a form of industrial decoration in this interior. A multimedia wall allows you to display things that are important to the homeowner.
Undoubtedly, a unique element of the interior is the wall finished with wooden boards. The cubic wooden form created in this way hides the door to the bedroom.
The bedroom has its own unique atmosphere thanks to the materials used and individually designed furniture. It fits perfectly with the rest of the apartment. The bedroom perfectly combines the functions of sleeping, wardrobe and work space.
Despite its small size, the bathroom is well planned, and the materials allow for the impression of a larger space. Wooden toilet buildings and a cabinet refer to the wooden materials in the apartment and building. a wall made of large-format marble tiles gives the interior chic and elegance.
The interior is contrasting. The large walk-in cabin, thanks to its form and the material used, does not visually limit the space. At the same time, the shower is very comfortable to use.
To sum up, the project was a very interesting experience for me. The history of the place where it is located allowed me to give the interior its own identity. This makes the interior unique. It fits perfectly into the building in which it is located.
